If you only have a few hours in Visakhapatnam, ride the beach road. It runs along the Bay of Bengal from the city to Bheemunipatnam (Bheemili), about 30 km of coastline with hills on one side and the sea on the other. No ghats, no long highway: just an easy, scenic ride that suits a scooter perfectly.

Stops along the way
RK Beach
Start at Vizag's main city beach. The promenade here is also home to the INS Kursura Submarine Museum, a real decommissioned submarine you can walk through, and the TU-142 Aircraft Museum nearby. Check opening days and times before you go, as they differ from the beach.
Kailasagiri
A hilltop park with sweeping views over the city and coastline, and the large Shiva–Parvati statues. There's a road up as well as a ropeway.
Rushikonda Beach
About 10 km from the city. A wide golden beach and one of the most popular places in Vizag to swim when conditions allow, so always follow the lifeguards' flags.
Thotlakonda
A few kilometres past Rushikonda, a short climb off the road takes you to the remains of an ancient Buddhist monastery on a hill above the sea.
Bheemunipatnam (Bheemili)
The end of the ride: a quieter beach town where the Gosthani river meets the sea, with a lighthouse and an old Dutch cemetery from its trading-port past.
Which bike should you take?
This is scooter territory. A Honda Activa or Dio is easy in city traffic, easy to park at every stop and cheap on fuel. If you're riding two-up or want a bit more pull, a Hero Glamour or Bajaj Pulsar is a good step up.
Tips for the ride
- Watch for sand on the road, especially on bends near the beaches.
- Expect a strong sea breeze on open stretches; hold a steady line.
- Park only in marked areas, and lock the handle and take the key at every stop.
- Carry water and sunscreen; there's little shade in the middle of the day.
- Keep your helmet on, even for short hops between stops. We include one free.
